The “de Gaulle” Corkscrew: an iconic bottle opener!
This must-have corkscrew, with its head and two large levers that look like arms, comes in all shapes and sizes all over the world. In France, it owes its name to General de Gaulle, who used to raise his arms in the air when addressing the public. L'Atelier du Vin has carefully selected every component of the corkscrew mechanism to ensure it is robust and easy to use. The redesigned 'de Gaulle' corkscrew is equipped with a specially forged 'Teflon' coated worm and a five-stage rotation to properly grip and extract the cork.
How to use a winged corkscrew?
1. Place the tip of the worm in an upright position at the centre of the cork.
2. Twist the handle without touching the “wings”, or levers, so that they rise up by themselves.
3. Push both levers down to extract the cork from the bottle’s neck.
